Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welcome to my journey into the world of home automation! Over the past few months, I’ve been experimenting with Home Assistant to manage various local sensors around my property. This setup is entirely local, with no external data sources involved. While it’s still in its early stages, the potential for data analysis and automation is immense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local Data Collection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the key features of my setup is that all sensor data is collected and stored in a local database. This allows me to generate detailed statistics and insights about my home environment. From temperature and humidity to air quality, every piece of data is meticulously recorded and analyzed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sensors we currently have are not all displayed here, I also have my timelapse weather camera and a RPi that is currently also doing timelapse. I intend on adding night-sky pictures to that as well. So the database will have the facility to scroll back in time and look at the weather outside and the data that accompanies it too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Home Assistant<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

for those that are interested home assistant is running on Proxmox on a N200 server, which also includes pi-hole, and a few different linux platforms. however the QSA system sensors are running from a RPI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Future Plans<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although I won’t be deploying this system at my current location, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be moving in April. At my new place, I’ll be fully implementing this setup and using the data to feed a Large Language Model (LLM) for advanced data analysis. This will enable me to uncover patterns and trends that were previously hidden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developing a New Weather Application<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to my home automation project, I’m also working on a new weather application. This app will be capable of handling data from multiple sources, including clientraw.txt<\/code>, message queues, RSS feeds, and more. My goal is to create a comprehensive weather monitoring system that can provide accurate and timely information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
